Notes: Between a lengthy US tour in the summer and a tour of continental Europe, Pink Floyd played a show in Wembley in London. Their first date in England since March, it was a charity date for Oxfam and the “War On Want.” They had a long association with Oxfam and they played their first concert in a big venue on December 12th, 1966at the Royal Albert Hall for the charity. In the ensuing six years they grew in stature and fame and this Oxfam gig occurs right on the cusp of superstardom.
The Oxfam Concerton Godfather is the very first silver release of this show made available. There are two tape sources in circulation and the usual practice on fan based CDR remasters has been to use the excellent quality recording supplemented by the inferior source for the tunings.
Godfather choose instead to use only the first, very good sounding recording which means the mc before “One Of These Days” and the lengthy tunings in the second half are absent but this is musically complete and sounds wonderful.<-(Info taken from Collectors Music Reviews).

Notes: Bootleg Race on Tarantura debuts the Mr. Peach recording for the show. Like other Peach tapes, it is very close to the stage and picks up the charisma and force of the band at this time. Queen sounds too loud for the recorder since the tape has slight distortion. It’s not too serious an issue, however, and is still better than Wardour. Queen’s aesthetic changed throughout their career depending upon their whims and movements in pop music. The Killers era is the logical extension and summation of the seventies. A certain brutality surrounds their music, but also nods to their theatric and comical side too. Freddie’s voice would deteriorate throughout these two weeks (reaching a nadir on April 25th), but is not too bad this night and is able to keep up with the rest of the band.<-(Info taken from Collectors Music Reviews).

Notes: Edinburgh is one of the better sounding recordings and has been issued before on The Flower of Scotland (Rattle Snake RS 034/35), Let’s Play House (VGP-257) and Edinburgh 1982 (SODD 040/041). Godfather is comparable to the others and has warmer sound than the SODD.
It is important to remember this is a warm up date, only their third show since the massive Still Live tour ended the previous December. Their backing band on this tour was Chuck Leavell (keyboards), Gene Barge and Bobby Keys on saxophones, replacing Ian McLagan, Lee Allen and the great Ernie Watts. There is a lot of passion pouring out, but there is a degree of tentativeness in the first couple of songs especially. From what I could find, there was no other radio broadcast of one of Dave's concerts besides the one at Bethlehem, and that was only a partial show. The date and location could be correct. The songs are not in the same order as what was generally played (according to AJTTaSwPF) and I am not sure why the two songs mentioned above are not here, if they were not played are were just left off. Anyway, It really is an excellent recording. For the Dave Gilmour fans out there, look for this one. -MISC This is not from the same show as in Pennsylvania.
